Since Bold Eagle mentioned your XP-55Bs were designed for a low price point, internal wiring is probably thin. Replace with 16 gauge when you change xover caps. If woof is wired through xover coil, try direct wiring your woof instead. Should elicit some expansive sonics from both your Superscope A-235(which is a re-badged Marantz anyway), & JVC RX-307(under-rated gems in their own right).
