Why?

Can someone PLEASE tell me why people on eBay will only bid the minimum bid just to make the "buy-it-Now" go away?

With all the "new" stuff I just bought over the weekend, I thought I would make someone happy and sell my Yamaha CA-810 for a $77 buy-it-now price on eBay with an opening bid of $9.95....within hours someone bid the $9.95 even though they must know it is worth around $150 on eBay. (The last CA-810 sold for almost $150)

Why do these people even bother? Is it really just to make the buy-it-now go away?

About a year ago, I was in a cash crunch and put an item worth around $200 at minimum for a buy-it-now of $125, and even said in the listing I needed a quick sale....well, some bonehead bid the $19.95 opening bid and when the next bid came in at $20.50, I knew the first guy was just pullin' my chain. I e-mailed him and he even said he likes to make buy-it-now's" go away on no reserve auctions.

Even happen to you?
