why does light affect output? Does light affect all electrical sources? If so, why aren't more products, audio and others, designed around that fact?

Wasn't there a cable manufacturer that had an electric plug strung from his IC's and speaker cables that lit up lights in the wires (clear insulation)? I seem to recall they were outrageously expensive.
