Tubes seem to sound good in the dark. That might be a subjective effect, and the results of your test might be as well. Or perhaps a static light source can affect the transfer function, and in turn the genuine sonic qualities.

What about the light output of the filament?

What of metal jacket tubes? Do they have an advantage over their GT counterparts? Anecdotal evidence hasn't suggested it, AFAIK.
