The plate of the 5886, a subminiature electrometer tube, is notably sensitive to light. It's usually painted black for its applications. I tested a batch of these running a typical plate voltage of 6 volts @ 6 ľA (not a typo!) and plate current could be modulated by passing a hand between the tube and a light source. I wonder if a small signal diode like 6AL5 would be similarly affected.
