If you set them up properly, I think you'll like them.I have owned a pair of 1000M's since 1984. I still use them in my primary system. They are quite revealing, and can tend towards harshness on poorly recorded material (particularly rock), but they are WONDERFUL on solo piano and acoustic instruments.
Don't be afraid to use the front panel attenuators to reduce the treble and mid if you find them too harsh. I typically run all of mine in a "9 o'clock" position.
Make sure you tighten up the screws on all the drivers and the cabinets. They are sealed boxes, and to sound their best - they need to be sealed.
