Do not use a solvent. The lettering on those comes off easy compared to the "inks" used today. I ruined a Scott tuner faceplate that way.
I would use Dawn original, not the new "oxy" Dawn. Avoid hot water.
For the dial glass Rain-X is ideal unless the lettering is screened onto the glass back.
Rain-X completely eliminates static and makes the glass sparkle.
