The class G label marks it as one of the Hitachi receivers that had unusually high head room, so it will play much louder than you'd expect from "only" 50 watts. Nice find. The speakers, as you've already discovered are classics. Not exactly subtle, but great sounding. You can also get the waffle pattern foam grills for them from some third party sources.

I had a JBL engineer tell me "they're not our most accurate speakers, but they are our best sounding speakers". Enjoy!
