I quick test method I have used for years is to gently push on the woofer cone right near the dust cap, so as not to cause the VC to scrape against the pole piece, while slowly moving the wetted palm of my other hand close to the drivers and cabinet seams.

If there is a leak, U will feel the air on the palm of your hand and wetting it will cause your palm to become more sensitive to the rushing air. One can also listen very closely/carefully in a quiet room while gently pushing on the woofer cone. U will hear the air leak as a slight whistleing sound.

For those that don't like pushing on the woofer cone, grab a test CD with a 10hz test tone and use that while listening/feeling for leaks.

Cheers,

~kenster
