Back in the 50's when AR was getting started, they fed the speaker a very low frequency and listened for leaks with a stethoscope. Their older literature and ads showed pictures of this process. Lacking a stethoscope, you could probably use a piece of tubing with one end held to your ear, and the other end moved around the seams. (brings back memories of synchronizing dual carb set ups) I think AR used 5 Hz.
