Problem: Receiver no sound -- rest of amp works fine ?

Good day...hoping for some guidance here. I have an older solid state receiver/amp unit that has the problem of the tuner not working at all...no static, not a sound. The rest of the amp works fine. In doing some research I found some problems with the posts/wire wraps in older gear causing dead connections; does this sound like a possible culprit and good place to start? Any other suggestions.
