Hi, James:

Best of luck in restoring your 8-B.

Remember to remove and replace the old "top-hat" diodes and the original 1/2-wave rectifier on the back skirt of the 8-B, along with the smaller electrolytics inside. The original telephone oil-type cans on the top and one in a clip underneath the chassis are normally good.

I love the 8-B, which is why I happen to still own four of them these days.

If you have not already done so, you might remove the brass strap over the back of the meter to see if there is a manufacturing date stamped there. This is the case in all of the 8-Bs that I own.

Enjoy!
