The bulb bases between B series and C series are electrically identical, but physically different. IIRC, the B's have larger bulb bases (I'm not sure at the moment and am away from home. You MAY be able to sub a small base bulb into a large base Fisher, but certainly not the other way around. As you may know, new stock B and C bulbs are unobtanium, and the NOS ones go for high value whenever they pop up. But it's even worse for the original 500.
One inch 6v fuse type replacements, even with pigtails, do not adequately illuminate the dial center, particularly on the 800Bs, where Avery's very pretty bird resides. But the 1 in types work great on the tuners and Gen I SS units.
For a B or C, it's best to stock up on used bulbs (if you can), or retro fit something in. LEDs seem an interesting alternative here, but the resulting color temp is not quite the same compared to the intended incandescent.
Have fun with your B.
