n the 70s, a Dr. Roger West working for the current owner of the technology, Electronic Industries, was tasked with improving the reliability and manufacturing processes of those tweeters. Following that experience, he formed his own company (SoundLAB) in 1978 and began building full range electrostats. Like Jim Strickland of Acoustat, he used some of Arthur's concepts and developed many of his own. Like the distributed resonance concept that allows his products to respond in a linear fashion down to 25 hz (or 16 hz in the case of the UB-1 ES subwoofer).
His products remain in production today and are among the finest sounding speakers I've ever heard. Last year, I had the good fortune to meet him. He is a soft spoken gentleman who remains enthusiastic about his love of music and his beloved electrostats.
He and his assistant Connie are standing next to a nine foot tall pair of Majestics. :)
Regarding the product released by Janszen's son, it is NOT a full range electrostat like the KLH-9. Instead, it is a dynamic hybrid using conventional woofers like the Martin-Logan flavors.
