I saw an interview with Jon Bau, designer of all the Spicas, where he said that %22the capacitors head south after five years.%22 Since it's been a lot more than five years, you would want to replace them if you want to get the imaging for which Spicas were known, because that imaging was a product of the crossover more than anything else. (There's an old article in Audio from 1984 discussing the principles behind the innovative crossover design, which was much copied afterwards.)

The Spicas may well use a foam surround, so you may have to replace that too, now or later.

I remember being very impressed by the DQ10s back in the day, and Saul Marantz - who had been Dahlquist's partner - said in an interview many years after the company was sold that he had never heard anything like them, imaging wise. If you can set them up properly and make sure all the innards are up to spec and give them at least 200 clean wpc, they are probably better than the TC-50s. But maintaining such an old speaker is not trivial. Good luck either way!
