Problem with blowing air through the innards of a receiver are that it may blow dust, lint, etc...where you don't want it. Into a switch, relay, etc....
On the other hand vacuming can create static electricity which can be potentially damaging if it zaps the wrong part. This is more of an issue with modern electronics like computers. Static electricity has the potential to scorch motherboards.
Still I prefer to vacum, of course carefully and make sure to discharge the want before poking it into the insides of a component. I use micro attachments and the artist brush is a good idea for moving old dust from corners and around parts.
Rubbing alcohol works as a good cleaner on the boards if they don't vacumn clean. Use qtips, or they make lint free swabs, and the alcohol will evaporate leaving clean grunge free surface.
