Hi...

The marantz 2220b is a wonderful rcvr. As far as maintenance goes... I would remove the top cover and inspect the innards. If it looks just dusty, you can blow out the dust with compressed air, or use of of those cans of "dust removers". You may want to use a light brush as you blow on the air. Be careful of the tuning string. You can also spray the controls - pots and swithes, buttons with de-oxit or a good contact cleaner/lubricator - not to much. (NO WD40) Also NEVER spray the tuning capacitor. I always check the connectors too, get the dust off them... make the connectors shine. While you have the top off, check to see if all the lights work.
As far as speakers go....I tried alot, and I finally decided on a pair of old Wharfedale W70's. These were made in the 60's and are very effecient and sound just great with the 2220b. If you read this site more you will find alot of info about synergy or matching components. I believe that the 2220b and the Wharfedale M70's are a perfect match. I'm sure there are other great matches as well. That is part of the fun here... finding the stuff that sounds great together.
