cool, but don't get pissed at me if you don't like them ;-)

things to look out for:

models:

concert grand - obnoxiously big, probably too many drivers so bass is a bit loose. sound big though!

symphonies - probably the best balance - get the mirror imaged ones. some like the 6.5" b209b mid, some like the larger B800 - 8" mid. two B199 12" woofers and a tweeter column array of 8 B200Y tweeters per side.

B302A Urban - what i had. one B199 woofer, one B209b mid and two B200Y tweeters. very pretty honey oak veneer with mid century tan grill cloth with gold speckles. cool! tweeters are over the woofer - so, too low. just use some spacers to tilt the tweeters up.

B401 rhapsody - smaller enclosure and different x-over, but uses the same drivers as the Urbans. tweeters are above the mids, but the enclosure limits the bass. my friend has them and i think they rock!

all bozaks sound better with the grill cloth off, at least to me.

if you think they are too muddy, replace the x-over caps with solens. if you want more tweet, i lowered the frequency of the tweeter and it's gain by switching from the stock 2uf cap and 25 ohm resistor to a 2.5uf/15ohm combo. much better to me!

look for bozaks from 1963 and later. earlier ones used the b209A mid - used a foam dampening ring which degraded. only B200Y and Z tweeters, forget the paper B200X ones. also forget the original paper B209. the aluminum cones are where the magic is, at least to me.

see ya,
Robby
