Interesting choice: the DQ-10's did lots of things right, but I could never tolerate that tweeter... or their woofers either for that matter. The Spicas are somewhat soft on top - it will be a big change from the Dahlquists. Upgrade the caps on the Spica crossovers to extend their top end a bit and open them up some.
The loudness factor can be negated with a good sub: my pair of TC50's with a Titan II LE sub and the programmable filter fill a huge room with as much sound as anyone could want (take a little caution on electic guitar riffs please.) But this adds at least $1k to the cost, even with used gear. At least replacement tweeters are again available for the Spicas.
If you're in the NYC area and want to listen to the Spicas, let me know.
