And release the 10-B.The coils on top also sat very close to the 6KJ6s so the alignment was prone to drift over time.
The 10-B coils were aligned in an oven set to simulate actual chassis temperatures, very clever!
The model 10 auction on the 'Bay had been gone over by Richard Modaferri at Audio Classics. The front glass was replaced with a repro and perhaps an alignment was done as well.
I know Mr. Modafferi includes a report with his restorations. Would love to read what he says about the unit and if he had any difficulties aligning it.
The model 10's coils are not gapped pot core toroids, so I was wondering if the legendary sonics of the 10B are also present in the early model. I know part of the "magic" in the later tuner is due to the unique IF strip...
