A rebuilt classic analogue tuner, say a Kenwood KT8300, with a twin-triode valve line-output stage added IN, and along with a directional exterior antenna and rotator, would probably have cost you LESS all up, and would almost certainly perform better reception-wise, let alone sound.

And, that set-up, very likely would NOT have the problems you have.

Yes, less cachet with those who are not wise to MD, and consider them to be a HE mfr, but who'd you RATHER impress, eh?

And, once heard on a GOOD station, only the deaf would not be!
