I used to hunt here in Aussie, honly thel feral hanimules but.
And despite the SLIGHT risks from the grumpier/larger boars among our feral pigs, there are no truly dangerous land game species in Aussie. Our salt water crocs? yep! But I never hunted up nawff. S 'kinda like your deepsowf maaate! Far less rednecks, though!
Buttt, me and me hunting friends, did TEND to the view that you couldn't have too much gun - so long as you could still lift the thing when it come to it.
Our grunters, especially down here around the Snowy Mountains, tend to hang out in thickish scrub so 'branch/scrub bucking' capability in the exterior ballistics of a rifle is a GOOD thing! As are the heavier bullets.
I am also of the persuasion that you can, just about, never have 'too much antenna'.
Viz. A friend of mine lives pretty damned close to our big telecom tower, off which one FM station has the strongest FM signal in the whole country, and he didn't believe me that a proper roof top FM thingie, the 6 element Tandy thing would be worth it. Took him one listen to know he was wrong!
I have NEVER seen a tuner go into overload. Ever!!! Kay?!
Get the 13 or even stack TWO of them, and put the array up REALLY high. At those ranges a serious tripod tower is valid. And 40 feet is - IMO - a minimum target. Yeah I KNOW it's flat as a tack Texarse, but still!
And, pay someone who has and knows how to use a field strength meter, to help you decide how high.
Get him UP on the roof of the house, and if it gets better up there, on your desired stations, then higher still will be better still.
You could also use the mast / tripod to mount some solar power panels, got solar hot water yet?!
