Saved the picture in my 10B "folder" for posterity!

As for Marantz being cheap for using non-hermetically sealed CdS cells, perhaps it all depended on a particular model run. I'm guessing that, as Superscope slowly dominated the company, the bean counters somehow had their way. The enormous cost of the 10B was mostly in the exotic Invar insulated silver plated tuning gang, according to Dick Sequerra, IIRC.

Marantz was particularly proud to build the optocoupler assemblies in-house. Perhaps they were not available commercially with those exact specifications. For 1964 this was very fancy technology. Competing tuners used clunky relays for muting and mono/stereo switching.

I love the ultra smooth way the unit mutes between stations. Quite the treat!
