You can usually put a "2S" in front of transistors who's marking start with A, B, C, or D when looking for substitutes.

The "2S" stand for 2 junction Silicon device (bipolar transistor)

A: PNP High frequency transistor
B: PNP Audio frequency transistor
C: NPN High frequency transistor
D: NPN Audio frequency transistor
