Hi, Tube Hertz:
You should have been around when AudioMart was in circulation. That was when I purchased the original 19" faceplate with bracket structure which I installed on my 10-B. The ensemble of the faceplate, bracket and handles, etc, cost me $150 around 1984. The handles which came with the panel were the originals, too. They are nickel plated and get kind of dull looking if you do not wipe them off and polish them on occasion.
So, I do not know what you mean when referring to an original panel which was "drilled", when to my knowledge, the original panels purportedly came with handles on them. Having handles on the structure is necessary to install the unit, at least to lift it into place, unless you have others assist you.
One of my several Marantz Model 7 preamps has a reproduction 19" front panel on it. This also came with handles, but they are high-polish chrome over brass, I believe. Once I owned a genuine Marantz 7 19" panel and it did NOT have holes drilled for handles of any sort and all of the nomenclature had been photoetched, as opposed to other panels which were silk-screened and sold as "after-market" accessories by third parties.
I purchased my Marantz 7 19" panel from Art Ferris, here in Northern California around 1977 or so. It cost me $100 then.
I would be quite astonished to find any solid factory-issue maintenance informaton on the "alignment" for the 10-B tuner, other than what I have managed to acquire over the past thirty years.
Funny, how that seems to be absent on such a famous tuner design, eh?
Enjoy your tuners!
