Here's my situation... I'm looking for a way to improve my AM reception in the building that I work in. I'm working with the Eton/Grundig S350DL. As far as I can tell it is the building that is giving me my issue. I can receive the station that I'm looking for with up to 4 bars of reception, but it is coupled with a large amount of annoying noise that seems to cease as soon as you take 2 steps outside of the door.
The radio has inputs for an external antenna, and I'm assuming that is my best option to get around my noise. What I'm looking for is advice on the best place to start without having to just start buying antennas and things to see what works. Is there an antenna that could help that might work without having to run coax to the outside? Or am I better off just running some sort of shielded cable straight outside and working from there? I don't mind investing, I'm just looking for the best direction to head in.
My guess is that I need some sort of antenna that is outside of the building and then wired into my radio. I've got somewhere between 30-50 feet to the door where I can get great reception on the other side. I've thought about the c crane twin coil ferrite antenna run to the outside, but it seems pricey not knowing for sure that it will work.
