Your antenna on your house should pull in any FM station that your car does, as long as your car is in the driveway. Obviously the closer you get to the signal of the station the better chance the car will have.

Why don't you concentrate on aiming the roof antenna towards the signal. Or call a communications company and ask them what is wrong.
