Hi, Ive never heard those Solid state tuners that you mentioned in your post. My situation for tuners might be common, I needed a good tuner that PICKS UP clearly local and distant stations coupled with good sound quality. Im sort of a tuner freak, and I sincerely like the Fisher FM 100B, or a good clean KM60. Both Stereo units. Ive had Sherwood tuners that I like ALOT, own most all of them, mono and stereo, but the Fishers seem to bring in stations a bit better with just a simple wire for an antenna. Ive owned the Fisher FM 200B which brought in stations great, but was not as appealing sound wise than the 100B. And thats important to me. But they also are very reasonably priced(FM 100B and the KM60). Its all fun no matter how you slice it!!
