I emailed MD a couple times before sending mine in. I purchased it new over 20 years ago. Wanted to make sure that the Lifetime Service Warranty applied to my unit and find out if I needed to send in the original reciept. I was told to just send it in.
Decided to forgo the upgrade to MD90 and just have the unit serviced. I hope that they will consider that age of the unit and replace capacitors or bulbs that "may" be close to end of their life.
Cost is $100 for the service.
