Nicest Sound - Yamaha TX1000 or Meridian 104/504?

Dear all, I have a Yamaha TX1000 in mint condition. Has never missed a beat and has provided many years of enjoyment. RF performance is very good, and I have no complaints regarding sound quality per se, how ever, I often wonder how the old Meridian 104 or newer 504 would compare with respect to the sound quality. I realise neither of these are particularly sensitive, but DX ing is not really my priority anymore. Any experience of any of these tuners - I would love to hear your opinions. Thanks
