This is a picture of the audioboard of a T-101. Does it look familiar?Also, do you really think that Accuphase would use Tantalums in this tuner if it compromised its sound? Have you heard a "Tantalum filled" T-101 that was sonically compromised?
I have been inside many over the years. I have yet to see one that wasn't terminated with an audio-grade Mylar, bypassed by a Polystyrene (as shown in the photo).
I agree with your not wanting to use modern "audiophile-approved" parts. I have yet to use one that is any good. The desire for an accurate AND musical component seems to be a thing of the past.
