A year ago, I installed the rooftop FM Yagi. Before that, I had installed a rooftop OTA TV antenna. I was stymied and still couldn't get good reception. This year, I went on the roof and spun the antenna 30 degrees and, Wallah, adequate reception (for being in a valley). I thought I tried all positions last time, so I don't know, but this time it did the trick (perhaps the FM stations raised their antennas, so, who knows).
I still get some static, but it is almost like playing a phonograph record, where it sounds so good, you tolerate these things.
I call it 'Faith-based audio': You're not quite sure what you doing, but you hope for the best in your efforts that they will yield a sonic payoff.
