Clean meaning i) multi-path free, and ii) as little processing / compression by the station as possible. For me there is - iii) very little such processing of the recordings.
Seems to me that needing a stereo-blend circuit is an indication you don't have enough antenna $$ invested in the radio reception system - as a whole.
