Why didn't I get the ABC - whose station it was - to 'fix' my 'tunah'. Australia has a broadcasting standards authority. Like you do.
My problem was really the tuner's IF stage, not the ABC. And it was my decision to do the old thing up.
Another reason I posted back then? It occurred to me that now doing up/rebuilding tube FM front-ends was becoming a thing to do, some folk might just run into the same problems I had. Yet, no-one seems to have done so.
It also confirms that some valve FM stages - from RF in to detector out - are remarkably resistant to strong out-of-band RFI! Because the filter didn't change the sound in anyway, just killed the shot-silk ripples.
;-)!
Canberra has a LOT of RF going out.
