I've been getting into possible upgrades. First I'm planning on using some FRED's to replace the bridge diodes, and upgrading the caps throughout. I'm making a list of parts now. It's more work than I would have thought...
I'm reasonably sure it needs an alignment, but I'm only judging it in comparison with other tuners. There could be some other problem.
What do you mean when you say something is blocking the signal?
I'm only using an indoor dipole from Radio Shack. It runs into a 300/75 balun, which is plugged into a splitter. I should be getting roughly the same signal through both coaxial leads, so I can test two tuners side-by-side. If the balun was the issue, or the leads, all the tuners would be affected. That's not the case.
If you're suggesting it might be something internal to the T-85, I'd love to hear it.
Thanks,
Jim
