I don't think they'd have done that, under Federal ALP member pressure, and then drop analogue FM any time soon.

Yes, it pisses me off that the ABC would even dare to claim that 64KBPS can ever sound as good as their FM does using the audio layer of MPEG2 @ 512 KBPS up and down to the satellite. No matter how new the codec used (ACC I think) this is just NOT possible.
Their charter requires them to try as far as possible to tell the truth, and yet the new digital-radio web-page claims that the sound quality is superior to FM, the other older page falling under the find your frequency pages didn't dare to.
