I have been using Fluke meters everyday for the last 20 years. I don't remember every seeing one get killed. They do have a tendency to "walk away" but they are worth every penny.I have a 79 which is my daily driver. The 87 is great, but I don't like the fact that they (or at least mine) don't beep in diode check mode.
And yes, I still have A 1964 simpson 260 with the "rolltop" bakelite case. One of the all time greats!
