All of my experiments have been with the Eimac 4E27A run in SE ultralinear mode - this is a great tube!
5.4 k UL Electra-Print OPT; B+ is 735 v with a 249 ohm (unbypassed) cathode resistor.
Just a breadboarded mono chassis so far - I've tried the 46, 3C33 and WE 421A as drivers...choke-loaded 6SN7 front end. No measurements or feedback yet...just fun sounds...
G3 is grounded - I tried a -9 v supply on it, but could not hear any effect...so I opted for simplicity.
I personally find DC filaments mandatory, but I'm dealing with 110 dB speakers.
Have fun.
