My final CD-player

193.41.233.240

Finally my DIY CD-player is finished and it's playing superb, never thought that a CD could sound so good.

The CD-player uses a CD-Pro2 transport which is directly(i2s) connected to two TDA1541a converters(zero-oversampling) in parallel, the amplification stage is done with 5842 tubes.
The CD player is based on http://www.diyparadiso.com/dac1.htm

On the picture you see:
bottom left: power supply for the display and the CD-Pro2, 2x v5dc, 9vdc, +20vdc, -21.5vac
bottom middle: CD-Pro2 transport, has also it's own tda1305 DAC converter but doesn't sound as good as the TDA1541 + 8542.
middle: power supply for the two TDA1541a, all regulated with lt1085, 2x v5dc, 2x -v5dc, 2x -v15dc
top middle: power supply for the 5842 tubes, -6.3vdc, -6vdc(relays), +240vdc (hawksford cascode CCS with BF872)
right: the DAC with 5842 tubes, each TDA1541a has its own capacitors and power supplies(adjusted with tl431).

The I/V conversion after the TDA1541a is done with a 33ohm Dale NS-2B wirewound resistor, these Dale NS-2B are among the best resistors for audio.
After the I/V conversion there's a passive 3rd order filter to get rid of the high frequency garbage.
This filter will soon be removed because Benny and Stephane from diyparadiso have found a solution for this problem that every zero-oversampling DAC has.
The 5842 tubes get there current through a hawksford cascode CCS based on BF872, the tubes have a negative fixed bias.

As coupling caps I've used the Mundorf silver PIO, see this thread:
