So this is seriously out of my realm at the moment, but was looking for some help. I have an HP 331a distortion analyzer. I have used it on a couple of amp rebuilds and I was just getting the hang of how to operate it..
Recently it started malfunctioning, the meter pegs to the limit no matter what you try to measure. It does this regardless of scale settings.. In fact if I just touch a bare lead wire to the positive input terminal, the meter will peg.
Prior to this it was working just fine..
I am learning how to restore tube amps and other gear over the past 5 or 6 years and I am starting to develop an understanding of what is going on there. This is something I have no idea how to trouble shoot or even pretend to know what to look for. I have not fooled around with reparing test gear.. I did measure the voltage on the terminal bar and it is correct voltage. This is all I know, and even that factoid I simply picked up from you- tube..
any help appreciated..
