RE: Russian K-40 -voltage rating for Bottlehead Amp

From what everyone has said about the voltage tolerance of the K-40 caps, it would probably be worth a try for a short period of time just see if the sound is what you like, unless the "break in" time is too long. But if you are running the cap at the high side of its tolerance rating the "break in" time would go faster. At least this is what I've been told.

The best thing to do is fire up the amp and take the voltage reading on one side of the cap and see if Mr. Joppa is correct about it being 400V or somewhere close.

I am also sure there are 600V versions. In fact I have some.

What brand cap is in that position now? Might be quite good!
