Bias supply current requirements will vary depending on the topology of the amp and what you expect from it. For example, if the amplifier never applies a positive signal voltage to the power tube grids, even momentarily, the bias supply will provide virtually no current at all. Most systems though will occasionally push the output stages into clipping, simply due to the wide dynamic range of the program material. When that happens, the bias supply is called on to supply the current needed to "normalize" grid voltage. How much current is needed will depend on the topology, the time constant at the grids and the speed with which you expect the amplifier to recover from overload. Feeding bias to the grids through a high value resistor such as 330K will limit the current (at the expense of recovery time), whereas bias through a choke or IT secondary will require more.
