RE: Mac Mc30 with low inductance low resistance choke installed.

I'm actually using a 100uf and I meant going into C2 running the unit up under 1/2 to 3/4 power I was able to get a smoother line by comparison to the stock setup. Those chokes really do help and Doc H told me that Mac got cheap om a few things even back in the day. He uses the .32hy that I used in the last setup but I wanted to try a bit more inductance.

This is the funny thing about Mac amps. So many are running with weak filter caps because many scope C1 and C2 and even C3 at idle looking for 120hz ripple and when they don't find any, they think the filter cap is ok.With these older Mac designs, you need very little filtering at idle because the amp doesn't draw much at idle by comparison to say a Marantz 8b or Dynaco 70. These are ma and pa shops mostly when this happens but it's a shame because so many of these amps are capable of so much more and they won't make their stock power rating when the caps are that weak.

When I post late at night,I sometimes leave out a few details so excuse me when I do that.
