RE: Grounding???

Tom, anything with a mains plug has a potential for problems. The concept is to minimize the risk. Like all engineering, it's a compromise between cost and function. The risk is minimal if you mix modern 2-wire and 3-wire equipment. Just don't get between the two chassis if you're soaking wet or bleeding. A bigger problem has to do with the 2-wire gear made 30 or more years ago. Some of that can be expected to not only have very high primary/secondary capacitance in its transformer, but may also have small bypass capacitors from the mains to chassis ground. Those can be deadly if you're working around anything that has an earth ground, including modern 3-wire equipment. The best solution is to remove the caps and install a 3-wire power cord in all such gear.
