I guess it would be a bipolar supply +-3v with the CT floating, or biased as some would say, at 1/3 the B+. One leg of the common mode choke would go in series with the heater on each leg of the supply.
The main objective would be to have a decent DC supply where the ripple would be fairly equal on each side of the heater. What I've found with 7806s are that the pos side looks good but the neg side looks yucky.
A bipolar supply with common mode choke is fairly simple and reasonable cheap.
