When wired common cathode, extraordinary measures must be taken to suppress parasitic oscillation that can occur at frequencies beyond many an o'scope's range. Harsh sound in high gm types is frequently associated with UHF and beyond parasitic oscillation.
I and some folks I know say, only partially in jest, that these tubes will oscillate inside the cardboard box.
BTW, even the less exotic 6922 can be plagued by this "disease".
