While doing a little tube rolling on the 26 drivers for the 26/26/300B amp I was checking the plate volts each time for comparison and found that less than half of the different pairs of 26's I tried had the same plate volts reading. Some had as much as 25 volts difference between them.
Since everything else is the same for both tubes, I can only assume that it is the tubes themselves that are causing the difference. Is this usual? Does it just mean one is more used up than the other? Even more importantly, how much difference can there be without causing problems? Is it just a matter of turning the volume up on the one that is lower, or can it effect the overall sound too? All tubes in question have been tested and are above minimums per the tester manual.
