It's worth mentioning that this is not just a matter of selecting a card with good specs, then deciding which software to use. You need to be sure that the card you buy will work with the software you want to use. that means, of course, that both items also have to work correctly together under your operating system. The bottom line to this is that there's risk in assembling a system that hasn't been tested by someone else. That might extend even to the exact platform (PC) being used, but I don't know how to mitigate that aspect of it.Also, AFAIK, none of these cards will allow round-trip frequency response to 100kHz. This measurement is the only time I wish my bench included a dedicated audio network analyzer. I use several Stanford SR760s at work, but this type of instrumentation is pricey for a home workbench.
