Preamp with high pitch whine from 1 channel

My preamp (5687 w/ CF and cap output)developed a high pitch whine in one channel a day after working fine the evening before. It is consent in volume and present on all sources. I have isolated the problem to the preamp, not sources or amp. All DC voltages measure OK and match channel to channel. Checked all solder joints and they seem fine. Swamped tubes channel to channel and sound stays on same channel. I have no o-scope and no schematic to post.

Any clues/guesses and suggestions on what to check/try?
