The latest efforts by New Sensor are supposed to be just fine.
I would put an inexpensive Sovtek 5AR4 in, after implementing the series SS diode tweak. The tweak is KNOWN to suppress the "fireworks" that afflict otherwise satisfactory current production 5AR4s. Even a crappy JJ 5AR4 was salvaged.
While the vacuum rectifier will block SS diode switching noise, I suggest using UF4007s instead of 1N4007s. My working hypothesis is that less noise, from the very outset, has to be better.
BTW, a claim has been made for the series diode tweak that, some of the time, a small amount of extra service life can be squeezed out of well used OS 5AR4s. I can't comment on the accuracy of the claim.
